The Catholic Bishop of Katsina Diocese Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Mamman Musa has urged the newly ordained priests of Katsina Diocese to see themselves as pastoral servants to the people entrusted to their care.
Bishop Musa in his homily at the maiden ordination of the diocese on Tuesday July 16th, highlighted some of the qualities of a servant leader and called on the priests to emulate Jesus Christ who is a model of a true servant leader.
The Catholic Bishop urged the newly ordained priests to embrace humility and sacrificial love in their pastoral duties, echoing the teachings of St. Paul and the examples set by Mary and St. John Paul II.
The new Priests who are the first fruits of the new Diocese are; Rev. Fr. Samaila Nura Emmanuel, Rev. Fr. Lazarus Amen Terumbur, Rev. Fr. Yusuf Musa Abubakar, Rev. Fr. Chibuzo Victor Somadina, and Rev. Fr. Bello Kelvin Michael. They solemnly pledged their lives to God amidst a congregation filled with joy and reverence.
The event was attended by clergy, religious, leaders, and the faithful from across the diocese, who gathered to witness and celebrate this sacred occasion. It is seen as a significant boost to the spiritual life of the community, reaffirming the commitment of the diocese to nurturing new vocations and serving the faithful with steadfast devotion.
Reflecting on the ordination, His Lordship expressed gratitude for the vocation and encouraged prayers for the newly ordained priests as they embark on their ministry. The ordination of these five priests stands as a vitality of the Katsina Diocese, ensuring continuity in its mission to spread the Gospel and minister to the spiritual needs of its community.
