Rev. Fr. David Okolie

Dearest friends in Christ, beyond the earthly food which God, in his PROVIDENCE, makes available to us, in the *Holy Eucharist,* Christ feeds us with his own *BODY* and *BLOOD;* an Eternal Food of Life. Thus, the Catechism affirms: *โ€œAt the heart of the Eucharistic celebration are the Bread and Wine that, by the words of Christ and the invocation of the Holy Spirit, become Christ’s BODY and BLOOD”* (cf. CCC, n. 1333). But do we really understand what we receive in the Holy Eucharist?

Indeed, the lifestyles that are often visible among some persons who receive the Holy Eucharist, leave one with the difficulty of accepting that such persons really understand what they receive.

The truth is that the reception of the Holy Eucharist ought to make us *one nature with Christ* and so our daily lives should reflect in concrete ways the life of Christ. When the above is not the case, one’s reception of this Eternal Food becomes *QUESTIONABLE.*

Therefore, to greatly translate in our daily lives and activities the life of Christ which is contained in the Holy Eucharist, we must strive to always *AVOID* receiving this Eternal food in the *State of Mortal Sin*; which reflects *the โ€˜OLD SELF’* and brings down more harm than good to us. On the contrary, we must always put on the *โ€˜NEW SELF,’ characterized by holiness and righteousness* (cf. Eph 4:24).

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ It is only a CONSCIOUS abandonment of the *โ€˜Old Self’* that launches one into and sustains a *โ€˜New Life’* in Christ Jesus.

We pray the Blessed Virgin Mary to always support us with her powerful intercession. Amen.

Remain blessed!
