The Catholic Biblical Apostolate of Nigeria under the auspices of the Pastoral Affairs Department, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria has organized a three-day Seminar/Annual Meeting for Coordinators and Stakeholders of Catholic Biblical Apostolate of Nigeria (CBAN) from Wednesday, June 28 to Friday, June 30, 2023.
The 3-day Seminar/Annual Meeting which bagan with Vespers and Holy Mass, was held at the Catholic Secretariat, Abuja, had as its theme: “Proclaiming the Word of God in a Fragile World”.
According to the National Coordinator, Mr. Femi E. Adeojo, the Seminar/Annual meeting was aimed at ensuring that Coordinators of the various Biblical Apostolate in Nigeria, effectively proclaim the word of God in a fragile world.
He stated that: “In a world where strength and power are often glorified, embracing our fragility cannot be easy. The words fragile and vulnerable are interchangeable. However, as Christians, we are called to proclaim the Word of God even in our weakness.
Adeojo citing the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians 12:10 which says, “It is when we are weak that we are strong.”
He said; “Proclaiming the Word in a fragile world and experiencing fragility can be challenging, but it is also an opportunity for growth and transformation. As we embrace our weaknesses and rely on God’s strength, we can share the hope and love of Christ with others and make a positive impact in the world.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, representing the Secretary General, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Deputy Secretary General/Director Pastoral Affairs, Rev. Fr. Michael Leke Banjo emphasized that to effectively proclaim the Word of God while experiencing fragility can be a humbling and transformative experience. When faced with challenges or hardships, we are forced to confront our limitations and rely on God’s strength rather than our own. This can be a difficult process but can also lead to growth and spiritual maturity. As we experience fragility, we must remember that God is with us always. We can find comfort and strength in His Word and the support of our brothers and sisters in Christ. By leaning on God and each other, we can navigate life’s challenges with grace and perseverance.” He said
Delivering their goodwill messages at the opening ceremony were various heads of the different Biblical Apostolate in Nigeria, comprising of the Catholic Biblical Instructors Union (CBIU), Catholic Biblical Movement of Nigeria (CBMN), Catholic Biblical Society of Nigeria (CBSN), Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Nigeria (CCRN) and the Catholic Lectors Association of Nigeria (CLAN).
