The Catholic Diocese of Aguleri marks one-year anniversary of it’s establishment and the installation of its pioneer Bishop, Most Rev. Denis C. Isizoh. It has been a year filled with significant milestones and blessings for the diocese.
Yesterday at the Thanksgiving Mass, Bishop Isizoh expressed gratitude to God for guiding the Diocese thus far and extended heartfelt thanks to influential priests who have made a significant impact in Aguleri Diocese, including Joseph Delaney, Thomas Sweeney, Joseph Nwibegbunam, among others.
He also acknowledged the 60 priests who courageously joined at the inception of Aguleri Diocese.
Currently, Aguleri Diocese is blessed with 96 priests, including those received from Nsukka and Nnewi Dioceses, as well as religious congregations serving across 68 parishes and institutions.
Bishop Isizoh emphasized the importance of establishing a true Catholic faith through various practices such as reading the Bible, family prayer, the Rosary, parish community prayer, catechism study, Nkuzi nke Okwukwe, and organizing pious societies.
In addition to spiritual growth, the diocese places emphasis on education and societal upliftment.
Bishop Isizoh encouraged the community to value education and support the development of local schools’ infrastructure.
Appreciation was extended to those who contribute annually to education and to towns that have taken the initiative to fine parents whose children are found loitering during school hours.
The ongoing major diocesan projects were highlighted, including St. Paul’s Minor Seminary in Igbariam, the Blessed Iwene Tansi Shrine in Igboezunu, and the newly announced Lumen Christi Spiritual Year Seminary in Umunya.
Bishop Isizoh urged the faithful to pray for God’s providence in these endeavors.
As the Catholic Diocese of Aguleri celebrates its one-year anniversary, the faithful are reminded of the blessings received and the journey of faith and growth that lies ahead.
May God continue to bless Aguleri Diocese, its priests, and the entire community.
