The Archbishop of Benin City, Most Rev. Augustine Obiora Akubeze, will kickstart the 2024 Communications Week (ComWEEK) with a solemn Holy Mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Airport Road, Benin City, on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 9:00 am.
Joining him in celebration will be the National Director of Social Communications, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Nsikak Umoh, the Archdiocesan director of social communications, Rev. Fr Jude Orah, the Parish Priest of St. Paul, Fr. Charles Omojiate, all media practitioners led by the Catholic Media Practitioners of Nigeria (CAMPAN), alongside the parishioners of St Paul’s and other guests.
In a statement by the Benin Archdiocesan Director of Communications, Rev. Fr. Jude Orah, it was revealed that the Mass will also serve as a platform to honor those who have made remarkable contributions to evangelization through media within the Archdiocese. The event is expected to draw representatives from every parish in the Archdiocese, ensuring a diverse and united congregation.
Media coverage by local outlets and an online streaming through the Archdiocesan social media handles will amplify the event’s reach, highlighting the significance of the ComWEEK initiative and its message across Benin City.
The theme for this year’s ComWEEK, “Artificial Intelligence and Wisdom of the Heart for a Fully Human Communication,” reflects a harmonious blend of technology and spirituality. The week-long program in all parishes and catholic facilities will feature daily reflections and teachings, as outlined in the ComWEEK daily manual guide, with the aim of integrating the burgeoning potential of AI technology to propagate the Gospel and uphold Christian values.
