The Vatican has announced the inaugural Mass of Pope Leo XIV for Sunday, May 18, at 10 am Rome time in St. Peter’s Square.
According to the Holy See Press Office, Pope Leo XIV’s schedule for the coming days will be as follows:
- Saturday, May 10: Meeting with the Cardinals
- Sunday, May 11: First public appearance with the Regina Caeli prayer and greeting from the Central Loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica
- Monday, May 12: Meeting with the international press
- Friday, May 16: Meeting with the Diplomatic Corps (Heads of Mission)
- Sunday, May 18: Inaugural Mass in St. Peter’s Square
- Tuesday, May 20: Taking possession of the Papal Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls
- Wednesday, May 21: First General Audience
- Saturday, May 24: Meeting with the Roman Curia and Vatican City State employees
- Sunday, May 25: Regina Caeli, taking possession of the Papal Basilica of St. John Lateran, and taking possession of the Papal Basilica of St. Mary Major
In a separate statement, the Holy See Press Office announced that Pope Leo XIV has asked the institutions of the Roman Curia to continue in their roles on a provisional basis, allowing him time for reflection, prayer, and dialogue before making any definitive appointments orย confirmations.
