Rev. Fr. David Okolie

Dearest friends, this coming Sunday (3rd Sunday of the Year [B] 21/01/2024) is called the โ€˜SUNDAY OF THE WORD OF GOD’ in the Catholic Church all over the world.

The celebration, which will feature, among other things, the ENTHRONEMENT of the HOLY BIBLE,ย is an effort towards reminding us of the centrality of the Word of God (i.e Sacred Scriptures/Bible) in our lives as Catholics. In fact, by this celebration, we all are encouraged to:

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ1. Own the Word (Bible).
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ2. Study the Word.
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ3. Meditate on the Word.
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ4. Celebrate the Word.
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ5. Live the Word.
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ6. Share the Word with others.

Without the above, we cannot possibly claim to know Jesus Christ, who is the WORD made FLESH (cf. Jn 1:14). Thus, St. Jerome affirms: โ€œIGNORANCE of the Scriptures is Ignorance of CHRIST.”

Please, beloved friends, always make out time to study and meditate on the Word of God (Bible)๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผN.B: On the above Sunday, Priests are also encouraged to call out, appreciate and pray for the Lay Readers, new members may also be enrolled in, those who could read out some Bible passages offhand may also be rewarded with gift items, some copies of the Holy Bible may also be given out freely, etc.

Remain blessed๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
