Dearest friends, it is becoming increasingly difficult to use the *SOCIAL MEDIA* these days. The reason being that day by day, the rate of *SEXUAL IMMORALITY/NUDITY* are increasing there. Thus, opening your social media accounts, you are easily greeted with obscene images and videos. I guess you know the reason for all that? It is because a number of lazy young men and women now believe that: *SEX SELLS.*
Those with the above believe may not be totally wrong. *SEXUAL CONTENTS* seem to be attracting more Views, Likes and Follow. What does that mean? It simply means that the level of *SELF-CONTROL/DISCIPLINE* is declining among a number of persons in our world today.
But my greatest concern and pain is about our *INNOCENT YOUNG ONES* who are continuously DESTROYED by this rise in immorality on the internet. Yes, they are the *unfortunate VICTIMS.* They are the victims because our system does not really censor or even restrict their access to these *destiny- threatening contents.* Thus, many of them started exploring all that and before they could understand what is happening, they are already *ADDICTED* to a number of such VICES being sold to them, namely: *Nudity, pornography, formication, adultery, masturbation, gay, lesbianism, internet fraudulent activities, substance abuse, etc.*
๐๐ผDo we stop using the internet and the social media because of the above? Not at all! What then do we do?
๐๐ผWell, there is an urgent need to develop and strengthen SELF-CONTROL by all and sundry. The rule is this: *โDo not look at that obscene image TWICE. Do not CLICK on that sex video, do not keep your eyes on that sex comedy, etc.’* The summary is that the *SENSE of SIGHT* must be controlled. Parents, teachers and pastors should equally teach those under them the above. Do not think that they do not yet have Android phones. I tell you, many of them who do not even have such phones delve into such more. They reach out to the phones of their siblings and friends; and sometimes even to that of their parents who suspect almost nothing.
๐๐ผUnless all of us rise to this moral challenge, we may watch to see our society sink into the oblivion of IMMORALITY. Thus, the Catechism affirms: *โChastity includes an apprenticeship in SELF-MASTERY which is a training in human freedom. The alternative is clear: either man GOVERNS his passions and finds peace, or he lets himself be dominated by them and becomes UNHAPPY”* (cf. CCC n. 2339).
May the GRACE of God support and save us all. Amen๐๐ผ
