In line with the yearly culture of preparing for the working year at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), all the agencies of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) are set to hold a two-day retreat on January 5 and 6, 2023.
In a chat with the Chairman, Planning Committee for the 2023 retreat, Mr. Francis Alimigbe, he introduced the theme of the retreat, โWork a divine vocation,โ noting that it is aimed at reawakening the consciousness of all the staff to the knowledge that โwork is not just a means of earning livelihood but there is a spiritual and salvific dimension to the work we do.โ
Mr. Alimigbe, who is the Deputy Programme Management Lead for the Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN), explained that โone of the cardinal teachings of the Church is seeing work as an avenue of making contribution to our salvation and our service to humanity,โ which the retreat seeks to uphold.
He revealed that the retreat Director for this year is Very Rev. Msgr. Obiora Ike, an internationally acclaimed scholar, social development expert and a visiting lecturer in many universities. Msgr. Obiora is also the Chairman of the Economic Council of Enugu State Government and will be bringing his wealth of experience to guide the discussions.
Activities will take two dimensions; the spiritual and social dimensions. The spiritual dimension will guide the staff to reconnect to the Creator, thank God for 2022 and commit 2023 into Godโs hands. The social dimension will focus on the entertainment of staff with music, dance and cultural display.
The retreat promises to be spiritually packed and fun-filled.
