The National Director, Directorate of Social Communications, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Abuja, Rev. Fr. Michael Nsikak Umoh, has encouraged the faithful to continue to have faith and trust in God.
In his homily delivered at the holy Mass held at the Sacred Heart Pastoral Centre Chapel, Jos on March 16, 2024, the cleric acknowledged that it is a trying time for Christians in Nigeria, particularly those in the northern part of the country who literally face daily persecution.
Citing the scriptures, he based his sermon on the story of how Jesus and prophet Jeremiah were hated and persecuted. He said ” Jesus was hated, attacked and persecuted. Prophet Jeremiah’s offence was simply because he told the people the bitter truth; he told them that they were living unrighteous life. For this reason, they conspired against him. But despite all these, he remained faithful and trustful in God,” he said.
Fr. Umoh commended the morning Mass adorers whom he described as special intercessors for the family and the entire society, therefore deserving of special graces.
